Enguri Medical Hospital : Refugee assistance/ Hospital restoration
In a town called Zugdidi located in the country of Republic of Georgia just a few miles from the break away region of Abkazia - there is a hospital that is currently seeking global assistance.
This hospital was built around 1950s and is privately owned providing affordable medical assistance to the citizens of that county for the past 60 years. In 1988 when war had broke out between Russia and Georgia - hundreds of refugees had fled from the breakaway region and into the city of Zugdidi. The current chief and founder of the hospital had generously let over 300 refugees stay in portion of his hospital for free back in 1988 - During that year - the United States along with a few other countries had provided humanitarian aide to help the hospital and refugees (but that was just enough to last a year)
Now many years later - the political outlook in the country is better and around 200 out of the 300 refugees had found jobs and homes. The medical staff have been providing free medical treatment to the citizens of that town for many years. But the hospital is now in a very old run down condition and needs all the help it can get. The goal is to upgrade the entire hospital and provide medical treatment to the citizens that are on the poverty line or on the verge of poverty. (which is about 30,000 people)
